Do I have ALS? 25 year old

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Aug 04, 2005 9:04 am

I am very concerned that I may have ALS I have had twitching in my legs and feet especially toes for the past 7 months. My right shoulder looks slightly bonier than my left and I seem to have many little hollows in the back of my two hands? is this wasting? I do not appear to be weaker.

HOW DO YOU IDENTIFY MUSCLE WASTING?

My ring finger tip on my left hand seems weak - I am unable to straighten it, although I can straighten the finger, not the tip, is this weakness? Also my toes curl strangely now but how do I detect weakness and wasting in feet?

Please help

Hi understand your concerns. But that doesn't sound to me like it is ALS. That's a pretty serious dieases, have you talked to your doctor about your symptoms? Alot of things have the same syptoms that makes it hard to tell what it is. If your doctor is concerned about that they will run tests. Just be completely honest with them. God bless you.

Best to see a Neurologist and have an EMG done. That's the only way to know for sure. My Neurologist told me that there are other diseases that mimic ALS, such as Lyme Disease and excessive heavy metal in your system. Good Luck.
