Running Ankle Injury?

Post a new topicby jlynn08 on Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:45 pm

I have been running/sprinting fairly consistently for the last year now (about 3 times a week) and last week during my sprinting routine I started getting a pain in my left ankle. It wasn't enough to keep me from finishing, but afterwards it hurt a little to go down the stairs and other minute things (it did not hurt to walk at all). The pain appeared again when I was just jogging a few days later, but went away after less than half a mile. After a week of no running the ankle seemed fine with no pain, but once I began running again the pain came back. I run on an indoor track and I suspect the fact that each time I run, the direction of the track is the same (meaning I am constantly leaning on my left foot as I turn the corners) has something to do with it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong or any tips to help prevent further pain/injury?

Please go see an Orthopedic specialist. I cannot tell you what is wrong with you. I am a pre-med student and also recently broke my tibia and tore ligaments. I can tell you that if I had ankle pain,I would make sure there is no damage, or weak bones or muscle. Be safe, not sorry. Good luck. Also, look into different running shoes, you might need orthopedic running shoes.
