autism

Post a new topicby shadow on Sat Aug 18, 2007 10:05 pm

my daughter is 2 1/2 she does not speak all she says is ahhhhhhhh in high pitches, she doesn't play with her twin sister, she hides her face, she doesn't clap her hands I have only seen her clap her hands on her own a few times, she constantly puts things on her finger and spins them or spins them like holding onto a washcloth and spinning it in the air, she doesn't play with toys like they are suppose to be played with she will pick them up and throw them, she will never respond to you when you talk to her I almost thought she could not hear but if she is in another room and hears the TV a song she likes she will come running . Her twin sister is talking she knows numbers, abc's songs . I don't know anyone with Autism but it really seems like that is what she has. Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Autism is certainly possible but so is hearing loss despite responding to vibrations from songs. What does your pediatrician say, you should express your concerns and have he examined, good luck.

if i hadn't have read that you were talking about your daughter i would have thought that you were talking about our son, Kyle is almost exactly the same as your daughter. Kyle was sent for a hearing test after i pushed it through with the health visitor that comes to see our youngest and at the mioment i cannot knock the amount of outside care Kyle gets, Kyle went through a number of test first to prove that he wasn't being ignorant or feigning deafness but once his paediatrician had cleared up that he is in no way deaf things started to role for us..... considering that your daughter is the same age as Kyle, if she hasn't been given the opportiunity to have her hearing checked i would push and push for it to be done. Once it has then you are already half way there you can also stop those annoying ppl in public that say she is just ignorant and naughty. dunno whether any of this will be of any use to you but if it is then good look..... if not then at least i feel better having a moan and a whinge
