3 Biopsies-no cancer

Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:09 pm

1 1/2 years ago my PSA had gone from my usual 2 to 5. I was sent to a urologist After taking antibiotics to rule out infection and my PSA up to 5.5 he suggested a biopsy. He did the usual 12 section biopsy. 11 sections were negative and one was suspicious. 3 months later (PSA now 6) he did another biopsy taking samples only from the suspicious area. Negative.
But, my PSA continued to go up for the next year. The next step I was told was a 32 sample biopsy under anesthesia They actually ...Read the full article

Just had a biopsy last week. I was the same as you went from 2 - 5. Tried antibiotics also, PSA went to 5.7. My also came back negative. I have never had to have any type of surgery before, never really been in the hospital for anything the past 33 years. I was very nervous about the whole process. I have an enlarged prostate, with no cancer. Talk about being ready to cry... I was wondering what type of supplements you are taking and where did you get them, and have they helped? My urologist put me on alfuzosin HCI 10mg. Thanks.

Your post just scares me to death! The rectal digital exam is the same site of the biopsies I have had twice now. I am always afraid that the cancer will start on the other side of the prostate where you can get your biospy tool or a finger. Did you URO get all the way around your prostate with the 32 sample test?
