How soon can I walk on the foot?I had surgery on 12/10/07. Left foot: Bunion removal, spur removal on big toe joint, arthritis scrape, and fenistraton into marrow to create soft scar tissue so bones don't rub anymore. age 56.
It has been 4 weeks. Not allowed a sneaker until 6 weeks. I soak my foot 2-3 times a day and work on "range of motion" for big toe, ice every night. There is still swelling. I began limping around the house a wee bit during day, mostly on side of foot in the surgical boot after week 3 b/c I was so tired of crutches, and I feel able. Dr. on vacation. I don't put ANY full weight on flat foot, but could I be causing future troubles b/c I'm using the foot too soon? I can't walk heel to toe nor do I try, but am concerned I may be pushing the healing process. Also, is it likely I will need PT to regain normal use of toe to walk properly?
Sponsored LinksRe: How soon can I walk on the foot? Are you any better now? I have been to two doctors and I am going to have my right foot done very soon. It is a severe bunion, but I am not going to have the more drastic procedure. I am so scared,
so I discussed having the normal less invasive surgery and my doctor said okay......but said it won't be the best because it could grow back and I could have a little bump...........the bone now protrudes so far out and my toe is beginning to move on top of the other toe making a slight hammertoe. I will be going to Aruba wiht my kids in July and hope that if I have surgery in March I will be fairly good to go. Lou
