L and R bunion surgery

Post a new topicby mim on Fri Nov 09, 2007 2:17 pm

I need surgery on both feet. I am considering having the austin proceedure on the right on dec 7. then the more invasive matatarsal osteotomy and Mc Bride bunionectomy on the 21 2 weeks later. This second surgery will leave me on crutches for 2 months, cant bear any weight on that foot. do you think the right foot will have recovered enought by then to bear my weight?

No, absolutely not. I had an Austin bunionectomy the Thurs. before Thanksgiving. I have to wear my boot for 5 weeks and am just now getting my stitches out this week. I can't put any weight on my foot without the boot and it still gives me some bothersome pain. I would not be able to walk on this foot alone. Do the Austin one first and wait until next summer so you are good and healed.
